Long time, no post

Hello, flist:

Just wanted to stop by and wish everyone a happy holiday. I know, it's been a while since I posted.

Many of you probably know I had a little accident back in September. Remus (resident kneazle) was by the window at 1:00 in the morning, and a stray cat outside was tormenting him. The noise woke me from a sound sleep, and I all I could think was, "Oh, I can't let my poor baby go through the screen after that evil stray. He'll get hurt!" So, I picked him up to move him, not taking into consideration that he was deep in "killer kitty" mode, and could have held his own against a Hungarian Horntail. He obviously thought I was a friend of the evil stray, and sank all of his claws and teeth into my arm. Yeah, ow. Thirteen pounds of cat, swinging by its teeth and claws, off the end of my (dominant) hand.

The bite became infected, so I had to have surgery. Went home with a PICC line so I could continue IV antibiotics outside the hospital. Didn't use my hand for much of anything for a full month, and then it became time for physical therapy. Oooooooo boy, now THERE is a fun activity. Suffice it to say that physical therapy hurts like TWO mother fuckers. Not just one. Two.

Anyway, I have now graduated to something called a "dynasplint" which I wear while I sleep. I'm still having some range of motion issues in my wrist (scar tissue), and I can't lift much of anything with that particular hand. The dynasplint is supposed to help that. I think it is helping a lot, even though I still arbitrarily drop things. I think my hand is always going to be a bit of a barometer. Any time the weather is going to get crappy, it gets stiff and clumsy, and hurts a bit.

So, it's been a busy autumn. And, come the new year, I am in for a job change (same company, different position).

The Maker, in His wisdom, continues to keep me challenged.

Well, I am "evilauntiesnape" at IJ and GJ, before anyone else decides to be.

This is pretty serious shit. And, I suppose someone prolly announced that we were going to have trouble connecting to places like HP Fandom and The Hex Files, right? Guess I've had my head stuck too far up my DH ass.

*stomps off to read "1984" in preparation*

Deathly Hallows

July 22nd, 2007 (01:03 pm)

Just stopping by to say that I loved EVERY FREAKING WORD of it. But we have already established that I am disgustingly easy.

That's all for now.....I'm too worried about accidently spoiling someone.

Almost time!!!

July 20th, 2007 (06:21 am)
excited

Well, in 17 hours and 39 minutes, I can maybe have my book! Legally! I'm so excited! I didn't get myself in gear in time to get on the "guaranteed" list at the local Borders Bookstore, so I was put on the "waiting" list. This meant that I would have to get to the bookstore as early as possible today, and get a colored armband in order to ensure my place in the lottery that would commence once all of the people on the "guaranteed" list got their books. Earlier this week, however, I got a pre-recorded voicemail from the bookstore saying that my book would indeed be available at the "stroke of midnight" on July 21st. So, I don't know whether this means that the bookstore realizes that they have enough books for both the guaranteed list and the waiting list people, or if I got that voicemail only because I'm on the waiting list, and it's still questionable.

*whimpers*

You know, this is NOT the time to torment me with vague promises! I think I'll call the bookstore later and speak to an actual person.

In the meantime - everyone have a wonderful weekend!

Order of the Phoenix - A MUST SEE, Naturally

July 11th, 2007 (06:19 am)
tired

current location: Desk at work - hopefully not UNDER it!
current mood: tired
current song: "Illusion" - VNV Nation

Well, despite my determination to be mature, and wait until tonight (Wednesday) to see the movie, so that I wouldn't be tired from the midnight showning last night...yeah, sure. When Fandango showed plenty of tickets available at 9:30 PM, and the theatre is less than 4 miles from my house...so much for my already questionable maturity. Shit...I only hope I'm not sleeping under my desk at 3:00 this afternoon. I'm nursing a pretty significant cup of coffee right now, but it's not having the effect I would hope for. I really did try to get a bit of sleep before the movie, but Lon called at the last minute and asked if he could stop by. What am I going to say? "Fuck no! I have to get ready for Harry!"

Miscellaneous OotP ramblings, possible spoilersCollapse )

Hellooooooooooooooooooo Flist!

current song: "Farthest Star" - VNV Nation

I know....long time, no post. I have no excuse other than sloth. Oh well - hope everyone is having a good summer. It's hotter than a popcorn fart hell in Denver...but hey, at least there is not a foot of ice in my driveway, right? I wonder if the concept of "balance" ever occurs to the weather gods in charge of Denver. Guess I'd better shut up, or they'll send me my own personal tsunami - from the Platte river, I guess.

Anyway, I'm attaching my most unusual fic to date...an AFI/VNV Nation crossover. This came as the result of a discussion with jade1x2, the world's most prolific AFI author. As always, it turned out completely different than the original idea.

A little background for those not familiar with AFI ("Miss Murder", "Silver and Cold", "Love Like Winter", most recent CD being "Decemberunderground") - the bassist, Hunter Burgan is involved in a side project called "Hunter Revenge." It's Prince-like R&B with some other non-AFI people. Since Hunter's voice is the naration of this fic, I chose to call it "Hunter's OTHER Revenge." I hope you enjoy...

TITLE: Hunter’s OTHER Revenge
AUTHOR: evilauntiesnape
RATING: R, for language
WORD COUNT: Approx. 2993
SUMMARY: Hunter Burgan is overjoyed by the change in the dynamics of his band, and he can’t wait to tell you all about it
DISCLAIMER: I don’t own AFI or VNV Nation (damn it all to hell anyway), no money is being made from this. Never happened, it is a complete work of fiction.
WARNINGS: None really – unless there’s one for excessive smart-assedness.

As always, thanks to the best beta dudes in the world, koshweasley and wolfiekins

I'm Luna!!!!

May 25th, 2007 (10:04 pm)

Gaked from Jade1x2:

You scored as Luna Lovegood, You are Luna Lovegood. You daydream and often seem to be drifting off into your own world. You have very strong opinions that many agree are not logical. You place a lot of faith in these beliefs. Possibly, you see more than what meets the eye. You are very accepting of others. You may have only a few close friends because you refuse to sacrifice your opinions and true self for social graces.

Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End

May 25th, 2007 (09:18 pm)
sleepy

current location: Ready for dreamland
current mood: sleepy

Well, I know this is supposed to be a trilogy, but there will HAVE to be a sequel now. Number 4. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Will Kicks Ass."

I don't want to say much of anything, because I don't want to be guilty of spoiling. Things that I CAN say:

Jack Sparrow is still way cool.
Will Turner has the prettiest eyes in the history of moviedom.
Barbossa is so damn much fun!
Davey Jones is still slimy.

Lots of great special effects. Perhaps I was tired after work, but I need to see it again soon (aw - too bad - more Johnny & Orlando), because I had just a bit of difficulty keeping up with who was betraying who, and why. I must say, I'm glad it ended in such a way that #4 is an absolute must.

Hello Everyone, Chapter 13 of "Stand By Your Mactus"

April 10th, 2007 (06:52 am)

current location: Desk at work
current mood: content

Wow - see what happens when you don't post for two months? You need to write a book. Don't worry - I won't do that.

Since we last "spoke" I have become the owner of a mini-van. This was not by choice. On my way to work one morning, a guy in a Jeep turned left in front of me at the last minute. I had no choice but to hit him. I was very fortunate - my air bags deployed, and I was wearing my seatbelt. Very minimal damange to me - the most interesting part being the technicolor breast I came away with - but my poor truck was totaled. Yeah...I'm still pretty sad about that. It was a 1997 Ford Ranger, only had 68,000 miles on it, and I had planned to drive it until it fell apart. Come to think of it, I guess I did just that.

Anyway, I am now driving a silver Caravan who has been christened "Argent." My two favorite LJ friends, koshweasley and wolfiekins, only made fun of me a little bit. I keep telling everyone that a 48 year old woman does not need a studly vehicle. Especially if she has a technicolor breast!

For those who might be following my "Stand By Your Mactus' story, here is a link to the latest update, Chapter 13:
